Trip Grading
We run two grades of holiday as described below: Epic and Easy Going. When you enquire about booking, we will discuss your mountain biking experience with you. The idea is to help you to select the perfect trip and to ensure that you will be with other compatible riders.
We run Epic and Easy Going weeks, short weeks and long weekends throughout the year, as set out in our Schedule for 2012.
If you book Purely Yours (exclusive occupation of the holiday for your party), we will talk to you about the range of riders in your group and plan the rides accordingly.
Epic
These exhilarating trips are perfect for fit and experienced mountain bikers who are looking to tackle challenging climbs and demanding descents in the stunning wilderness of the Sierra Nevada.
The terrain includes plenty of singletrack including steep, technical and rocky trails, up and down. The precise nature of the riding will vary, depending on the make up of the group.
Riding days are from 10am to around 4pm and are demanding but very rewarding. The Land Rover is around for refreshments and back-up.
Easy Going
These trips are for competent mountain bikers who want to take it a little easier : perhaps you're out of practice, a bit out of shape or just want to emphasize the 'holiday' aspect of your mountain bike holiday. They also suit fit, enthusiastic newcomers to mountain biking.
The pace is gentler than our Epic holidays and the days are shorter. There is less technical riding (although we can include technical descents on request) and more time for foraging in hedgerows and popping into bars. That said, you will be in mountainous terrain (rather than on towpaths or disused railway tracks), so you can expect some long climbs and challenging descents. The Land Rover is on hand for uphill assistance, should you fancy it.
