Mountain biking is a potentially risky activity. Your safety is our priority, but accidents do happen.
We insist that:
- You wear a helmet whenever riding.
- You have your own travel insurance that covers mountain biking and that you carry the details with you when cycling. We are often in remote areas, where rescue is by helicopter rather than ambulance, and this must be covered by your insurance policy.
- In addition, European citizens must have an in-date European Health Insurance Card (called a "Global" Health Insurance Card in the UK) and carry it when mountain biking.
- You carry your passport / identity card, mobile phone, small first aid kit and emergency money when cycling.
For UK residents, SportsCover Direct (click the logo below) provides insurance for your whole trip. It covers you for general travel issues, plus issues related to the chosen sport(s). Cover is provided for your chosen sport, plus all other sports in the same group, or lower groups. Policies can be single trip or annual multi-trip. There are 3 levels of cover available to choose from which allow you to select how much cover you require for cancellation, baggage, sports equipment etc.
BUPA provide travel insurance to residents of most countries, too.
Pure Mountains is also insured and our guides are qualified in mountain first aid.
